Joe Ann Knowles, age 82, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., died September 13, 2016, at home. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 17, 2016, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Carl Wells officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.She was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle B. Knowles and son, William ""Billy"" Doyle Knowles.Survivors include her daughters, Bobbie Knowles (Jeff), Terri McLaughlin (David), Lynne Rogers (Ron), Trish Knowles and Janet Knowles (Billy); sisters, Vivian Olive (Stanley) and Rose Kilgore (John); brothers, Robert ""Shorty"" Watkins (Bette Rae); grandchildren, Kate Knowles, Justin McLaughlin (Anna), Jessica Knowles Kilgore, Lindsey LaRoche, William ""B. J."" Knowles, Matthew McLaughlin (Adrienne), Madison McLaughlin, Roni Rogers, Jon Rogers (Amee) and Jared Rogers (Kellie); and special niece and nephew, Jason Watkins (Lucy) and Stacy Jean Watkins Orchard.Joe Ann was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother with a caring heart. She touched many family and neighbors alike. She will be remembered as a caring and dedicated person. She brought a smile to everyone she met. She brought unconditional love to those around her.She was employed as an LPN at DCH Regional Medical Center and retired in 1997. Until we meet again, we will cherish the many precious memories.Pallbearers will be Jason Watkins, Shane Kilgore, Justin McLaughlin, Matthew McLaughlin, Nicholas Hayes and Curtis Hayes.Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Stephen Browne, Alabama Hospice Care, Duncan McLaughlin, ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.The family would like to give a special thanks to her caregivers, Elizabeth Whitehead, Elizabeth Ball and Tenessa Smith. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Society.The family would like to give much love and prayers for our special sister, Trish Knowles who cared for her mother every day and Shorty Watkins for always being there.
