NORTHPORT - Councilman Dennis Hampton Hambright, age 64, of Northport, died May 11, 2017, at home. Visitation will be Monday, May 15, 2017, from 2-4 p.m., at the funeral home with Memory Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, directing.He was preceded in death by Lawrence Hambright, Maedell Hambright, Larry Hambright, and Jackie Hambright.Survivors include his sons, Eric Hampton Hambright (Brandy) of Tuscaloosa, Ala. and Taylor Kimbrell Hambright (Sha) of Northport, Ala.; mother of his children, Terri Hambright; and grandchildren, Robert Hampton Hambright of Niceville, Fla., Abagail Kimbrell Hambright of Northport, Ala. and Ila Mae Hambright of...

Visitation will be Monday, May 15, 2017, from 2-4 p.m., at the funeral home with Memory Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, directing.He was preceded in death by Lawrence Hambright, Maedell Hambright, Larry Hambright, and Jackie Hambright.Survivors include his sons, Eric Hampton Hambright (Brandy) of Tuscaloosa, Ala. and Taylor Kimbrell Hambright (Sha) of Northport, Ala.; mother of his children, Terri Hambright; and grandchildren, Robert Hampton Hambright of Niceville, Fla., Abagail Kimbrell Hambright of Northport, Ala. and Ila Mae Hambright of Northport, Ala.Dennis retired from B.F. Goodrich where he was a tire builder and was heavily involved in the union. After retiring he went on to work for SEIU in Nashville, Tenn. Then he worked for the AFLCIO in Montgomery, Ala. He also did some work with IUPA.Dennis served as the president of the Tuscaloosa County High School Alumni association. He was elected in November as the Northport City Councilman for District 1.Dennis was a loving father to two sons and a loving grandfather to three grandchildren.
