NORTHPORT - A. G. Hawthorne, age 72, of Northport, died January 28, 2018. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Rick Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 30, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alberta and Eloise Hawthorne; brother, Douglas Hawthorne; and sister, Joanne Marlowe.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alberta and Eloise Hawthorne; brother, Douglas Hawthorne; and sister, Joanne Marlowe.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Linda Hawthorne; daughter, Cindy Key (Daryl); sons, Alvin Hawthorne and Sonny Hawthorne (Cindy); sisters, Bettye Strickland, Allene Madison and Jenny Jones; brothers, Jerry, Buddy Louie and Phillip Hawthorne; grandchildren, Hunter and Haylee Hawthorne and Kole and Kale Key; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A.G. was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He was a Vietnam Veteran serving two tours as a Gunner's Mate aboard the Naval Destroyer, USS Bausell. He worked with CSX Transportation and retired after 33 years of service.
He enjoyed deer hunting with his wife, family and friends. He also enjoyed watching Alabama football and his grandchildren play sports.
Pallbearers will be Daryl, Kole and Kale Key, Hunter and Haylee Hawthorne, Buddy Hawthorne, Phillip Hawthorne and Craig Strickland.
Honorary pallbearers are Emmett Taylor, Elbert Ray and the members of Baisinger Hunting Club.
